Farclose privacy policy

Effective 2026-11-01 · Farclose (Android package com.prax.farclose), published by Prax

The short version. Farclose is a couples app. To work, it stores what you and your partner write (answers, moods, notes, photos, plans) on our servers so each of you can see the other's side. We do not sell your data, show ads, track your location or use an advertising ID. You can download or delete your data inside the app at any time.

Who we are

Farclose is published by Prax, an individual developer ("Prax", "we", "us"). Contact: praxappssupport@gmail.com.

What we collect and why

We collect only what the features need. We do not ask for your email address, phone number, contacts, device location or advertising ID.

WhatWhyNotes
Nickname, avatar (an emoji, or a photo you choose), language, time zone, reminder time and notification preferencesTo create your profile and show you to your partner; to send reminders at your local time.Your partner's name that you type during setup stays on your phone only.
Relationship details from setup: together-since date, how often you see each other (for example long distance), goals, tone, whether you have kidsTo choose suitable questions and show milestones. All optional or adjustable in the app.
Content you create: daily answers, moods and short notes, check-ins, nudges, game answers, bucket-list items, countdowns, date proposals and plans, notes and doodles for your partner, replies and reactions, shared sapling diary lines, questions you write, photos and voice answersThis is the core of the app: to store it and show it to your partner by the app's rules.Photos and voice clips are stored on Cloudflare's storage. Photos are re-saved without location (EXIF) data before upload.
City you pick for "This week in {city}" (and your partner's city for long-distance couples)To show local event and date ideas. You choose it from a list. We never read your GPS or device location.
Optional sign-in with Apple or GoogleTo recover your account on a new phone. We keep only the provider's opaque account identifier (and, for Apple, a token needed to revoke the link when you delete your data). We do not receive or store your email or name from them.
Push token and platform (Android or iOS)To send reminders and partner notifications through Firebase Cloud Messaging.Push permission is asked only after you tap to turn reminders on.
Subscription statusTo unlock Premium for you and your partner. Your RevenueCat user id is your Farclose user id.Payment itself is handled by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We never see your card.
Anonymous usage analytics (Firebase Analytics)To see which screens and steps work.Events carry only fixed labels and numbers, never answers, names, notes, photos or city names. Turn off in Settings → Privacy → Share anonymous usage data. Off in debug builds. No advertising ID, no ad personalization, no screen-level tracking.
Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics)To find and fix crashes.Release builds only. We attach no user identifier.
Our own product events and safety counters on our serverTo count milestones such as couples created or reveals, and to limit abuse (for example too many nudges or wrong invite codes).Events use fixed labels, platform and country. Rate-limit records use a salted hash of your network address, not the address itself.
Notification delivery logTo enforce daily caps and quiet hours.Deleted after 30 days.
Install referrer (Android only)To open an invite you tapped before installing.Read once on first launch from Google Play; we use only the invite code in it.

Permissions the Android app can ask for: notifications; microphone (only while you record a voice answer); the system photo picker when you choose a photo (the app does not browse your library). It also declares internet access, vibration and restart-after-reboot (to keep reminders scheduled).

What your partner sees

Farclose is built to share. Your partner sees your answers (only after you have both answered), moods, notes, nudges, check-ins, photos you add to a shared answer or item, shared plans and your chosen city. Your partner does not see your location, because we never collect it. Farclose is not end-to-end encrypted: the content is held on our servers and revealed by the rules above. If you unlink, your content in the couple is deleted and your partner is not notified.
