Yarnlight privacy policy
The short version. Yarnlight has no account and no server of ours. Your projects, photos, patterns, stash and journal stay on your device. The app has no ads and no analytics. The only service it contacts is our subscription provider, RevenueCat, to check whether Pro is unlocked.
Who we are
Yarnlight is published by Prax, an individual developer. Contact: praxappssupport@gmail.com.
What we collect
We do not run a server for the app and we do not receive your content. Each time the app starts it contacts RevenueCat, which handles subscriptions for us:
| What | Why | Linked to you? |
|---|---|---|
| An anonymous app user id that RevenueCat generates (no name, no email, no account) | To recognise this install and check whether Pro is unlocked. | Only to that anonymous id. |
| Purchase and subscription status (which plan, dates, trial, renewal, store receipt) | To unlock Pro, restore purchases and show the right plan. | Only to that anonymous id. |
| Technical data sent with any network request, such as IP address, device model, OS version and app version | To deliver the service and prevent fraud. | Handled by RevenueCat as our service provider. |
That is all. The app contains no advertising SDK, no analytics SDK and no crash-reporting service. We do not use the advertising ID. The app has no account, no sign-in and does not ask for your name or email.
What stays on your device
Projects, counters, photos, pattern PDFs and images, stash, journal entries, notes and settings are stored in the app's private storage on your phone. They are never uploaded to us. Related behaviour:
- Photos and files: the app opens the system picker or camera when you choose to add one, and only reads what you pick. Pattern files from "Open in" or Share are copied into the app's private storage.
- Notifications: gift-deadline reminders and one "trial ends soon" reminder are scheduled on your phone; nothing is sent from a server. Notifications are optional.
- Backup and export: Settings has a backup export (a .zip you save or share where you choose) and restore. Your phone's own backup (for example Google backup on Android) may also include app data, under your device settings.
- Sharing: share cards and exports go through your phone's share sheet to the app you choose. We do not see them.
- Links you tap (privacy policy, terms, support email, a designer's "where to buy" link) open your browser or mail app.
Who we share data with
We do not sell or share personal information for advertising. The only third parties involved are:
| Company | Role | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| RevenueCat | Subscription management for us. | The anonymous id, purchase status and technical data described above. |
| Google Play (Android) / Apple App Store (iOS) | Process your payment and subscription. | Handled under their own privacy policies. We never see your payment details. |
We do not use AI services and your pattern files are never uploaded or used to train anything.
Retention and deletion
- On your device: your data stays until you delete it in the app or uninstall the app. Uninstalling removes the app's local data (backups you saved yourself are yours to delete).
- RevenueCat: keeps purchase and subscription records linked to the anonymous id for as long as needed for billing, restore and legal reasons. To ask for these records to be deleted, email us and we will ask RevenueCat to delete your anonymous id.
- Since we cannot tell who an anonymous id belongs to, to ask for deletion of it, email us from your phone and tell us your app version and store (we may need the order id from your store receipt).
- There is no Yarnlight account to delete.
Children
Yarnlight is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. The app collects almost nothing, but if you believe a child has used it, email us and we will help.
US state privacy rights
If you live in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, Utah or another US state with a consumer privacy law, you may have these rights, which we offer to everyone:
- Know and access: ask what personal information we hold about you and get a copy.
- Delete: because we hold your content nowhere, delete it in the app or uninstall; to ask us to delete the anonymous purchase id, email us.
- Correct: ask us to fix information that is wrong.
- Opt out of sale, sharing and targeted advertising: Yarnlight does not sell your personal information, does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and shows no ads, so there is nothing to opt out of.
- No retaliation: we will not treat you differently for using these rights.
To use a right, email praxappssupport@gmail.com. We may need to confirm it is really you before we act. You can use an authorized agent; we may ask for proof of their authority. If we turn down a request you can reply to ask us to reconsider (appeal) and, depending on your state, contact your state attorney general. We aim to answer within 45 days.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for material changes, tell you in the app.
